What Is the Federal Auto Loan Interest Deduction?

For tax years 2025 through 2028, eligible buyers may now deduct up to $10,000 per year in auto loan interest on qualifying new personal-use vehicles—making your next vehicle purchase even more rewarding.

How Do You Qualify?

• Loan must be originated between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2028

• Vehicle must be brand-new (used vehicles do not apply)

• Must be for personal use, not commercial or business

• The loan must be secured by a first lien

• Income must be under $100,000 (individual) or $200,000 (joint filers)
